How do I get a hot air balloon ride?

The hot air balloon rides are reserved for our company sponsors. However, if the company does not have a rider, volunteer crew members may have the opportunity to take a ride at the pilot’s discretion.

How much does a hot air balloon ride cost?

This balloon festival is considered a show for the hot air balloon pilots. There is no cost for balloon rides; however, the rides are reserved in advance by our corporate sponsors. Rides may be available to those who help on a hot air balloon crew.

How often during the day do the balloons launch?

The hot air balloons only launch at 6:00 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Weather conditions are best at this time of day in the Salina area. There will be a balloon glow on Saturday night around 9:00 pm on Main Street where they will stand the balloon upright and light the flames. All launches are weather permitting.

What is the general direction the hot air balloons fly?

The direction the hot air balloons fly will be determined on the morning of the flight. Whichever way the wind is blowing is the direction the balloons will fly. Typically the balloons fly north. They can be seen from a great distance over fields and the lake.

What are the other activities to do during the festival?

Concerts and vendors and a dance will be happening on Friday evening. Saturday there will be entertainment, craft and food vendors and an FMX show all day Saturday. Please refer to the schedule for a complete list of activities. There are also flyers available at many businesses with a complete list of the activities.
